Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

The Grand Canal Challenge is taking place on Sunday 1st July 2018 and different roles are available which can be shown on this spreadsheet, along with all the timings and locations: GCC Vol Ops

Start Point Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help set up the start point of the Grand Canal Challenge and meet and greet participants.

Role Description:

  • Help set up registration desks, bag drop off and query desk
  • Help put up signage
  • Meet and greet participants, register participants and answer queries
  • Distribute water and snacks
  • To act as a charity representative and help the event get off to a good start

Checkpoint A, B, C, D Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help set up Checkpoint A, B, C or D and meet and greet participants as they go past.

Role Description:

  • Help set up Checkpoint desk
  • Help put up signage
  • Meet and greet participants as they get to the checkpoint
  • Distribute water and snacks

Finisher’s Festival Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help set up the finisher’s festival of the Grand Canal Challenge and congratulate challenge participants.

Role Description:

  • Help set up welcome desk, bag pick up and medal desk
  • Help put up signage
  • Cheer participants as they reach the end and present them with a medal
  • Distribute water and snacks
  • To act as a charity representative and help the event finish with a hurrah!

Skills required:

  • Friendly and outgoing
  • Happy to talk to participants about the event, hospital and the charity
  • Reliable
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
