Details of the Charity:

ACAA was established in 2001 by Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi, who left Afghanistan with his young family in 1999. He wanted to help other refugees, so he began organising cultural events and day trips for the Afghan community in London. Since then, the organisation has flourished and developed to free refugees and newcomers from the isolating feelings which can come with migration. The vision of the ACAA is fair treatment for all refugees who enter the UK.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

ACAA are looking for teachers to provide support in Maths and/or English and/or Science – ranging from primary to GCSE level.

This is a great opportunity for students who are looking to gain practical experience for future employment. This is a unique opportunity to work with children of diverse backgrounds and to learn how to best support vulnerable children and young people.

The commitment required is 12-3pm every Saturday at the Hounslow branch.

Skills Required:

No essential skills are necessary as support and training is provided.

Additional Benefits:

  • Hours will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record
