Details of the Charity:
Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity aims to support the fantastic work of these two world-class centres treating and beating the planet’s biggest killers, heart and lung disease. Raising money for equipment, research and amenities that fall outside the scope of the NHS, the Charity’s projects are not “nice-to-haves”- they are often vital to the lives and well-being of the hospitals’ patients. They make the hospitals not only excellent but extraordinary.
As world pioneers in the research and treatment of heart and lung disease, our hospitals treat babies born with heart problems, toddlers affected by asthma, teenagers living with cystic fibrosis and adults in need of heart and lung transplants, to name just a few. These conditions could affect any of us. This is why the work of the hospitals is so important, and why the charity’s support is so worthwhile.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
We are looking for a group of students to come and support our Grand Canal Challenge cyclists, runners and walkers. The event will take place on Sunday 25th June 2017 and will require volunteers to set up a cheer spot along the canal and cheer and encourage our event participants as they pass. Other duties may include giving out snacks and drinks. If any keen photographers want to bring along their cameras and snap some photos that would be great!
Enthusiasm; willing to cheer and create noise!
Additional Benefits to the Volunteer:
- Great Skills to include on your CV
- Hours volunteered will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record
- All hours contribute towards your Brunel Volunteers Award, which leads to an invitation to the End of Year Volunteers Dinner
- Food and drink
