Details of the Charity:
London Nightline is a completely confidential, anonymous and non-judgemental listening, support and practical information service. We’re students there for students, all the way through the night, available to talk about whatever is on your mind. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or little, if it’s important to you we’re there to listen. All our volunteers are current students who are waiting all through the night, from 6pm-8am every night of term, to listen to whatever is on your mind. We can be contacted by phone, text, email, instant messaging or Skype.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
As a hotline volunteer, you would be responsible for answering our phones, emails, texts and instant messages overnight. Throughout October, you would go through all our training and once you’ve passed you’ll begin the vital job of listening to the students of London about whatever is on their mind, big or little. This is a unique opportunity to give back to your university while meeting a diverse new group of people. Nightline is very social, and includes a completely free weekend away at the end of January.
We have an overnight rota where you choose shifts, but 4 required a term.
- Willing to give up time to make a real difference
Additional Benefits to the Volunteer:
- Full training provided
- Hours volunteered will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record
- All hours contribute towards your Brunel Volunteers Award, which leads to an invitation to the End of Year Volunteers Dinner
