The Abbeyfield Uxbridge Society is part of a national charity that provides secure, supported accommodation for older people
The Abbeyfield way of life provides a balance of privacy, support and security that can be ideal for those who no longer feel able to cope, or do not wish to live alone at home.
Our House has 30 bedsitting rooms with their own en-suite bathrooms
We provide two cooked meals daily, allowing our residents to make their own light breakfast.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
Volunteers would be interacting with older people for social activities like playing cards, chatting over tea and coffee etc.
Assisting with seated exercises – encouraging the residents to do the exercises.
Helping with craft and other activities to occupy their time.
Skills Required from the Applicant:
- Good communication
- Interpersonal skills
- Empathetic attitude
- DBS check required – carried out and paid for by Brunel Volunteers
Additional Benefits to the Volunteer:
- Travel expenses reimbursed
- Will be recorded on your HEAR – which goes on your permanent university record
- All hours contribute towards your Brunel Volunteers Award, leading to an invitation to the End of Year Volunteers Ball
