Slough Homeless Charity and Homelessness (SHOC) – Polish Translator

Serena Hall
Burlington Road

Details of organisation:

SHOC creates opportunities for homeless people in Slough. We provide support towards recovery and transformation and help prevent rough sleeping. We have helped more than 1000 homeless people make life changing decisions.

We provide a safe environment for clients who use the day centre and home comforts for homeless people. We offer advice and information relating to housing, benefits, health and emotional issues caused by homelessness.

Lastly we raise awareness of the issues of homelessness within the local community and support and encourage clients who have been socially excluded to become a part of the community.

Details of opportunity:

Slough and the surrounding area is a region badly affected by homelessness and social exclusion. It is an urban area of extremes and great diversity. While the town itself is home to a large number of successful international companies, around 15% of Slough’s residents live in communities that are among the 20% most deprived income areas in the country.

– Work with another member of staff to communicate effectively with our polish clients around Housing, Employment and Health.
